Ruth M. Krider, 94, of rural South Whitley, Ind., died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at her home of natural causes.

She was born Oct. 27, 1918, in Albion, Ind., a daughter of Ward H. and Susie F. (Withers) Yant. As a young girl, her family moved to a farm near Collamer, Ind., where she attended grade school. She graduated from South Whitley High School. In March 1968 she married Phil R. Krider Sr. They always made their home in rural South Whitley.

She was employed at Controls in North Manchester before owning and operating the 5 Club in South Whitley then Green Parrott and lastly Ruth’s Package Liquor Store. Her membership included D.A.R.

Surviving relatives include two daughters: Sue Anne (Stanley) Kern, Albion; and Karen K. (Lealon) McCoy, Kendallville, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd Yant and Fred Yant.

There will be no visitation or service.

Arrangements are being handled by Smith & Sons Funeral Home, South Whitley.

Preferred memorials are to Daughters of the American Revolution.
