AKRON — The Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation honored staff and students during a celebration on Friday, Feb. 10, for TVSC’s improved letter grade they received from the Indiana Department of Education and for continuing to hold the highest graduation rate in Kosciusko County.
The celebration was held at the Akron Elementary gym with students and staff in attendance. This celebration was one of five gatherings taking place at the TVSC schools to honor the accomplishments of the schools. During the ceremony, superintendent Brett Boggs thanked staff and students for the hard work they have put in to get where they are.
Boggs and TVSC school board handed out shirts and candy bars to staff to thank them for the strides they made in the last school year.
TVSC currently holds the number one graduation rate in Kosciusko County of 95.3 percent. This is the second year in a row the school corporation has led the county’s graduation rate.
The school corporation received a ‘B’ letter grade earlier this year from the Indiana Department of Education for the 2015-2016 school year. Boggs indicated this was an improvement from prior years.
Boggs appreciated that the school corporation has moved up their grade to a letter ‘B’. Boggs indicated he was pleased the corporation is leading the county in its graduation rate, however, he wanted to continue looking forward. “We’re shooting for a 100 percent graduation rate,” said Boggs.
