Mrs. Phyllis E. Kuhn age 84, of Bourbon, Ind., passed away on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, in Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home of Plymouth in the care of her family.

Phyllis was born the daughter of Lowell M. Berkey and Erma M. Schroeter Berkey on Sept. 9, 1928, at Bourbon. She was a resident of Bourbon all her life and she graduated from Bourbon High School class of 1946.

She was a homemaker and a faithful member of the Bourbon First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the Go and Grow Circle. She also was co-owner of Kuhn’s Sonoco gas station of Bourbon. She worked at Bourbon High School as a Secretary for E.P. Smith and later as a custodian for the Triton School Corporation

On Aug. 21, 1949, she married Luther Kuhn with whom she had shared over 62 years of marriage until his passing on Jan. 14, 2012.

Surviving are her daughter: Brenda (Steve) Brink, Nappanee, Ind.; her two sons: Dennis (Tammy) Kuhn, Bourbon; and Larry (Honey) Kuhn, Mentone, Ind.; along with 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was proceeded in death by a daughter: Janice Prater; two sisters: Eva Berkey and Betty Whittaker; and two brothers: James Berkey and Rev. Robert Berkey.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, in the Bourbon First United Methodist Church with Rev. Stormy Scherer-Berry of Bourbon First United Methodist Church and Bridgett Smith of Hospice officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Bourbon.
