CULVER – The Triton volleyball team saw its season end Saturday night with a loss to Michigan City Marquette Catholic in the sectional title match.
The Blazers topped the Trojans 25-14, 25-20, 25-14 in the championship contest of the Class 1-A Culver Sectional.
Marquette advances to play at Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian (26-6) Tuesday at 7 p.m. in a one-match regional.
Shana Anderson led Triton in the finale with five kills and seven digs. Breanna Lemler had five kills and two aces and Marissa Ross 10 assists and two aces. Emilee Koontz had 11 digs and Holly Stogsdill added nine.
Triton defeated Argos 25-23, 25-19, 25-22 and Marquette topped Westville 25-8, 25-4, 25-8 in sectional semifinal play earlier in the day on Saturday.
Lemler had seven kills and three blocks in the semifinal win for the Trojans. Anderson led the team with 10 kills. Koontz had six kills and five aces, Stogsdill seven digs and Ross 22 assists. Krystal Sellers had three aces for Triton in the win.
