Ruth A. Wilson, 96, formerly of South Whitley, Ind., passed away at 1:55 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at Covington Manor, Fort Wayne, Ind., where she had been a resident for the past several years.

She was born Oct. 22, 1916, in South Whitley to Arthur Swank and Ellen (Enos) Swank. Her formative years were spent in South Whitley. She graduated from South Whitley High School. On April 16, 1936, she was united in marriage to Cranston Wilson. With the exception of one year in Fort Wayne, they have always lived in South Whitley. Mr. Wilson died Sept. 13, 1963.

She had 30 years of service with Stumps Printing, South Whitley, as an administrative assistant. Her memberships included: the United Methodist Church of South Whitley and it’s Helping Hands Circle; the South Whitley Literacy Club; and the Duodecim Club.

She is survived by a daughter: Sharon (Glenn) Auer, Fort Wayne; grandchildren: Kelly (John) Metzger; Scott (Carole) Auer; Lori (Tim) Schulz; and Tim (Beth) Wilson; great-grandchildren: A.J. Metzger; Abby Metzger; Nikki Carmody; Jamie Auer; Ali Auer, Zack Schulz; Gaven Schulz; Collin Wilson; Noah Wilson; and a daughter-in-law; Alice Wilson.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Mark E. Wilson and a sister, Mary Feagler.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at Smith and Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley. The funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in the South Whitley Cemetery.

Preferred memorials are to the Mark E. Wilson Scholarship established in his memory at Mid Michigan Community College.
