KOSCIUSKO COUNTY — As we head into the New Year and weekend celebrations, the National Weather Service is predicting a clear and relatively warm weekend. Highs Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 will be around 40.

There is a slight chance of snow showers Saturday, with a 20 percent chance after 2 p.m. Expect some heavy winds with a steady 15 mph wind and gusts up to 25 mph. That wind will die down after midnight, slowing to around 5 mph, but gusts are still expected. Lows will be hitting around 23 degrees.

Sunday weather will be uneventful and is expected to be clear with a light wind. Sunday night, rain is likely after 1 a.m. with temperatures dropping to around 32 degrees. Be wary of potentially slick roads as temperatures drop to freezing.

Monday, Jan. 2 is the federal observation of New Year’s Day. The weather may turn dreary, with rain likely after 2 p.m., but temperatures will be warmer, reaching 49 degrees.
