Grace Soccer: Ladies Top Seed, Men Sixth
WINONA LAKE – The Grace College soccer teams are headed for the NCCAA National Championships in Florida.
The women’s team was awarded the top overall seed for the national tournament, which is to be held in Kissimmee, Fla. The Lancers won the Midwest Regional championship to earn their No. 1 seed.
Grace joins a group with No. 6 Colorado Christian and No. 9 John Wesley. Grace will play John Wesley on Nov. 28 and Colorado Christian on Nov. 30. Both matches start at 1 p.m.
Grace is returning to NCCAA Nationals for the fifth time in the past six years. In 2014, their most recent appearance, the Lady Lancers lost in the national championship game in a penalty shootout.
The men’s team landed at No. 6 in next week’s national tournament.
The Lancers have a tough pool in the nine-team tournament. Grace sits in Pool A against No. 1 Campbellsville and No. 9 Southern Wesleyan, who is the reigning NCCAA national champion.
The tournament is set for Kissimmee, Fla., from Nov. 28-Dec. 3. Grace is making its second straight trip to NCCAA Nationals and fourth trip overall since 2011.
