Dorothea Alice Blackburn, 88, Wabash, died at 4 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016 at Miller;s Merry Manor East in Wabash.

She was born Jan. 2, 1928 in Wabash, to Cecil and Mercy (Watson) Martin.

Dorothea graduated from Chippewa High School. She married Robert L. Blackburn in Wabash Aug. 17, 1947; he died May 23, 2016. She worked as a cashier for Clark’s Grocery, and also worked at Brewer’s Dairy, and Daywalt Pharmacy, all in Wabash. She was a member of the Wabash First United Methodist Church. Dorothea enjoyed knitting and playing the organ.

She is survived by two children: Fred (Vickie) Blackburn, Janesville, Wisc.; and Jane (Dan) Wingert, Wabash; seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Ned Blackburn; brother, Cecil Glen Martin; and sister, Louise Thrush.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Pastor Kurt Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery, Wabash. Family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorial is Animal Shelter of Wabash County.
