William “Bill” DeGaetano
William “Bill” DeGaetano, Winona Lake, and longtime resident of Warsaw went home to be with the Lord at 7:10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at Grace Village Health Care in Winona Lake, at the age of 84.
He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict and was awarded the Purple Heart. Bill was a resident of Kosciusko County, since August 1972, moving to the area from Griffith. He was an elementary school teacher for a number of years, and a member of Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church. He will be missed dearly by family and friends.
He was born on January 7, 1932 in Pittsburgh, Penn. to Esther (Angelelli) and Roy DeGaetano. On March 10, 1956 he was married to Constance Jean (Vigna) DeGaetano, who passed away on September 22, 2009.
He will be lovingly remembered by his two sons: William D. (wife Nanette) DeGaetano, Warsaw; Stephen H. (wife Kimberly) DeGaetano, Warsaw, Indiana; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his daughter-in-law: Sonia DeGaetano, Warsaw, Indiana; two brothers-in-law: David (wife Janice) Vigna, Portage; Norman Vigna, Garden Grove, Calif.; and sister-in-law: Mary Ann (husband Stanley) Olkoski, Hobart, and a sister Sandy Paino, St. Louis, Miss.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and his son Phil DeGaetano.
No services are planned. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.
