WARSAW — The evening of Oct. 20 began with a mob of bingo players in a line stretching around the entire Center Lake Pavilion, as they waited in the rain for the doors to open, a phenomenon comparable to Black Friday shopping. When the doors opened, the party began as folks presented their tickets and claimed a seat they thought would bring them the most luck, from a room full of tables laced with daubers as big as juice boxes. The gamers headed over to check out the prizes and grab a dinner box prepared by Martin’s Supermarket. Chattering and laughter filled the room as people were enjoying themselves while devising their strategy for winning at least one of more than a hundred prizes. It was an incredible showing of support for The Beaman Home.
Quick introductions and acknowledgements were made as the bingo players quickly took their seat and strategically laid out their cards in front of themselves. As the games began, the ambiance of the room became very serious, but gradually lightened up as more players yelled “BINGO.”
It was a great evening of fun while raising awareness and support for The Beaman Home and its programs. The entire event has been organized by the Altrusa Club International of Warsaw for the last 5 years, and this year generated nearly $8,000 in additional revenue for the Beaman Home to continue their programs and services that are so vital to our community.
The Beaman Home would like to thank the sponsors of this event: Kohl’s, Lake City Bank, Hall Marose Silveus and Kosciusko REMC. With special thanks to Debbie Yingling, Denny Cripe, Paul Schmitt, Sue Creighton, the Altrusa Club, and everyone else who helped make the evening a huge success.
