
Susie Wireman, 79, Columbia City, passed away at 12:58 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2016 at her home.
Born Jan. 28, 1937 in McGoffin County, Ky., she was the daughter of Adam and Rebecca (Howard) Whitaker.
She attended McGoffin County schools and Nov. 12, 1953 she married Sam Wireman. In 1962 they moved to Columbia City and she has been at her present home since 1978. She starting working at Bond Flex in Columbia City in 1972 as an inspector, retiring in the early 2000’s. She had been a member of Columbia City Community Bible Church. Susie enjoyed being surrounded by her family and cherished the time babysitting her grandbabies. She was an amazing southern cook using cast iron skillets and her fried chicken and apple pies will be missed.
Survivors include her daughter, Brenda (Jim) Arter, of Fort Wayne; sons: Sam (Polly) Wireman, Jr., of Kimmell; Carter (Teresa) Wireman, Sr., of Cookville, Tenn.; Donald (Margarita) Wireman, of Tampa, Fla.; Douglas Wireman, of Columbia City; and Gary ( Amy) Wireman, of Dandridge, Tenn.; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and four sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sam Wireman in 1997; two sisters; and four brothers.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28 at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Curt Johnson officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Greenhill Cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be given in her memory to the American Heart Association or Heartland Hospice.
