WARSAW — Things might become slightly “hairy” at the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department in the coming month.

In an attempt to help a local organization, several members of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department and Prosecutor’s Office will be participating in a “No Shave November” event.  Sheriff’s deputies, confinement officers, prosecutors and other office workers have been allowed to grow beards during the month of November by Sheriff Aaron Rovenstine and Kosciusko County Prosecutor Dan Hampton.  The only stipulation is that the participants must donate at least $20.  With the approaching holidays during November and December, the collected donations will all go directly to “Our Father’s House”, a local thrift store that specializes in assisting those in need and low income families.

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputy Mike Fowler, the idealist behind the program, stated that he had several officers approach him in support of the proposed program.  He then approached Sheriff Rovenstine, who also agreed with the fellowship of the event, as well as the assistance that sheriff’s employees could provide to our local citizens.  Prosecutor Hampton then learned of the planned event and included his staff as support for the charitable act.

Fowler stated that there are tentative plans to perform a “group shave” on Nov. 30, at the Kosciusko County Justice Building at the conclusion of the month long program.
