Valley Football: Vikings Make It Three In A Row

Tippy Valley SportsAKRON – The Tippecanoe Valley football team is on a winning streak.

The Vikings made it three straight victories Friday night by holding off visiting Wabash 21-13 in Three Rivers Conference play.

Valley improves to 3-5 overall on the season and moves to 3-3 in the TRC with the win.

The Vikings built a 21-0 lead on the Apaches and then held on down the stretch.

Valley, which lost to Wabash twice last season, led 7-0 at halftime thanks to a 19 touchdown pass from Alec Craig to Jarod Duzenbery on a fourth and goal play in the second quarter.

The Vikings got a pair of touchdown runs from Desean Heckman in the third period to make it 21-0. Heckman scored on runs of 63 and 13 yards for the home team.

Wabash, which falls to 4-4 overall and 2-4 in league play with its fourth straight loss , got touchdown runs of five and four yards from Luke Proctor to cut the lead to 21-14.

Heckman had a big night to lead the way for the winners. He carried the ball 20 times for 168 yards as Valley outgained Wabash 331-265 in total yards.

Craig was 4-9 passing for 53 yards for the Vikings.

Devin Bandow came up with a pair of key interceptions for Valley in the victory. Wabash had three turnovers on the night to none for the Vikings.

Proctor paced the Wabash attack with 21 rushes for 105 yards.

Valley will play at Southwood (5,3 3,-3) and Wabash will host Manchester (1-7, 1-5) in TRC playoff games next Friday night.
