WARSAW — A Warsaw woman is being charged with domestic battery after jumping on her father’s back.

Angela D. Prater, 38, 1822 La Vista Drive, Warsaw is being charged with domestic battery to a family or household member with a child under the age of 16 present, a level 6 felony; battery, a class A misdemeanor; criminal mischief, a class B misdemeanor.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department responded to a battery at a La Vista Drive residence on July 6. When the officer arrived on scene he spoke with the owner of the residence.

The owner reported that he had gone to bed when his daughter, Angela D. Prater, went into the bedroom and wanted her father, the owner of the residence, to babysit her three children. She became upset and slammed the bedroom door. He advised that he followed her out and told her not to do it again. Prater then threw a concrete angel and slapped him on the right side of his face/neck twice.

The residence owner advised that Prater had been living at the residence since April 2016. He told her to take her possessions and leave. She left and he locked the door.

The owner then advised that he heard loud banging in his front door. When he opened the door Prater had ripped the screen from the door and he punched her in the mouth. He advised that he knocked a cell phone out of Prater’s hand because he was trying to get it. When he bent down to pick up the cell phone Prater jumped on his back. The residence owner advised that one of Prater’s children was present during the altercation.

When the officer spoke to Prater, she advised that when she went into the bedroom to ask her father to watch her children he began yelling and screaming derogatory language toward her, waking the children. He told her to leave the residence and continued yelling. He grabbed her cell phone and threw it, breaking the phone. Prater advised that when he was grabbing the phone she pushed the residence owner. The owner then pushed her child out the door. In anger she ripped the screen off. When the owner opened the door and punched her in the mouth she sent one of her children to the neighbors to call the police.

When police spoke to the child, the child advised the residence owner and Prater had been arguing and she interfered out of fear that the owner would hit Prater. The child observed the owner kick Prater while she was holding one of Prater’s other children. The child went to the neighbors to call the police and when she returned Prater had blood on her face.

Angela D. Prater was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on a $6,000 surety and cash bond.
