WINONA LAKE – The Lakeland Christian Academy soccer team celebrated Senior Night in a big, big way Thursday evening.
The host Cougars rolled to a 9-1 win over Tippecanoe Valley.
LCA took a commanding 6-0 halftime lead thanks to a huge first half from Parker Stewart. The freshman tallied three goals for the Cougars in the opening half.
The duo of Garrett McCoomb and Noel Blum, both juniors, each finished the night with a pair of goals for the winners. Senior Colby Stevens and sophomore Jacob Harmon each added a goal for the Cougars.
Stewart and Theran McKeever each had two assists for LCA. The trio of Elijah Raymond, Lauren Starrett and Melissa Goss each added one assist.
Alan Jimenez scored the lone goal for Valley, off a corner kick from teammateIvan Santiago.
LCA had a 29-9 edge in shots and a 22-6 advantage in shots on goal in the match.
Junior goalie Cross Williams had five saves in the net for the Cougars.
Fabian Mar collected nine saves and Alex Morrison had two for the Vikings.
LCA, now 7-4-1, will host Culver Academy on Tuesday night. The Vikings, who are now 4-8, will play Winamac in the Winamac Tournament on Saturday at 9 a.m.
