Doris Marian Mitchell, Warsaw, passed away at 9:44 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016 at Peabody Retirement Community of North Manchester, at the age of 96.

She was born on Oct. 28, 1919 in Baltimore, Md. to Adelia (Schad) and William Short. On March 27, 1942 she was married to Donald Cameron Mitchell who passed away on Oct. 3, 1993.

She worked as a secretary for a number of years. Doris and her husband had lived in Wheeling, W. Va. where they were members of Stone Presbyterian Church in Wheeling. She moved to Warsaw five and half years ago and attended the Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Doris will be missed dearly, she was a great wife, mother, and grandmother.

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter: Dorothy (husband Mike) Herring (Warsaw); three sons: Donald Mitchell (Cincinnati, Ohio); David (wife Karen) Mitchell (Conway, Ark.); Douglas (wife Liz) Mitchell (Cheney, Wash.); nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her daughter, Diana Walthour in 1991.

No visitation or services are planned. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.
