
The title tilt of the Culver Academies Regional slated for today (Wednesday) was postponed due to inclement weather.
Warsaw will now clash with the host Eagles for the regional title on Thursday at 5 p.m.
Warsaw defeated Peru 5-0 and Culver Academies stopped Plymouth 4-1 in regional semifinal action Tuesday. Warsaw takes a 12-2 mark into the regional final versus No. 14 Culver Academy, which is 17-2 on the season. The Eagles beat the Tigers 4-1 on Aug. 29.
The regional champion returns to Culver Academies Saturday for semi state play at 10 a.m. with a berth on the line in the State Finals, which will be held Oct. 12-13 at Carmel High School and at North Central High School in Indianapolis.
The Culver Academies Regional winner will face Valparaiso (16-2) Saturday. Valparaiso defeated No. 17 Penn 3-2 Wednesday in the title match of the Portage Regional. Penn, which finishes its season 17-3, beat South Bend St. Joseph 3-2 and Valparaiso topped Michigan City Marquette 5-0 in semifinal play on Tuesday at Portage.
Culver Academies has won eight regional championships, including two in a row. Warsaw also owns eight regional titles, with the last coming in 2007. Culver Academies defeated Plymouth 4-1 in the regional final last season and then lost 4-1 to Penn in the semi state.
