Whitko Football: ‘Cats Knock Stripes Off Zebras

SOUTH WHITLEY — It was another huge win for the Whitko football team Friday evening. The Wildcats welcomed in Rochester and knocked the stripes right off the visiting Zebras en route to a 57-14 victory.

Whitko jumped out to a 37-0 lead after the first quarter in which they ran eight plays and scored five touchdowns. On the night Whitko ran 28 offensive plays and scored eight touchdowns, an absolutely astonishing stat.

Garrett Elder ran the ball six times for 198 yards and scored four touchdowns. Hunter Reed also had six rushes, he totaled 106 yards and two scores. Zach Gardner had 33 yards and one score. Colin Craig was 1-1 through the air for a score. Zach Hewitt was on the receiving end of that score. Whitko tallied 439 yards of total offense.

Defensively the Wildcats were led by Robby Owsley’s nine tackles. Conner Sherwin had seven tackles.

The Wildcats improve to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in Three Rivers Conference play and travel to take on rival Tippecanoe Valley next Friday.
