WARSAW — Tiffiany Page Anderson, 34, 812 E. Clark St., Warsaw, was arrested on Sept. 9 for two counts of forgery, both level 6 felonies; two counts of theft, both class A misdemeanors; and two sentence enhancements for theft, both level 6 felonies. Anderson wrote at least 17 checks to local businesses using stolen checkbooks.

On Aug. 13, the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office received four checks written to Service Liquor for a total of $154.20. The office also received five more checks written to three different businesses for a total of $387.13.

All of the checks were written from the same account. Officers spoke with the owner of the account, who advised that she did not write any of the checks and that she had closed the account after her checks had been stolen.

The Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office received three additional checks written to Ace Hardware in the amount of $678.50. Five more checks written to Wilby’s for a total of $243.42 were also received. These checks were written from a different bank account. The owner of the account advised that she had not written any of the checks on her closed account and her checkbook had been stolen when her home was burglarized on July 21.

An officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s office obtained the surveillance video from Service Liquor for the date that the checks were presented. In the video, the officer was able to identify the subject presenting the check as Anderson.

The officer then obtained the surveillance video from Ace Hardware for the date that the second set of checks were presented. In the second video, the officer was also able to identify the subject presenting the checks as Anderson.

Anderson had been convicted of criminal conversion on April 20, 2009. Anderson is currently being held in the Kosciusko County Jail with bonds of $10,250, $5,250, $5,250 surety and cash and a no bond.
