NORTH MANCHESTER – Tippecanoe Valley’s varsity and JV volleyball teams both showed well at its respective invitationals Saturday. The varsity team placed second at the Manchester Invite while the JV won the Triton Invite.

Lakewood Park Christian beat Valley out of the gate in the varsity invite 25-17, 25-21, but Valley rallied to take wins against Manchester 25-12, 25-18 and Tri Central 25-18, 25-7. Leading the charge for Valley were Abby Betten with 22 kills, 15 digs and seven aces, Shayleigh Shriver with seven aces and Taniesha Brown with 25 assists.

The JV team escaped a first round thriller against Triton 23-25, 25-9, 15-5, then defeated Bremen 25-24, 25-23 and Culver 25-4, 25-13.

Stats were not given for the JV tournament.

Tippy will return to action Tuesday at home against Peru in a Three Rivers Conference showdown.
