Robert J. Stiver
Robert J. Stiver, 96, Goshen, died 11:20 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, at Greencroft Healthcare, Goshen. He was born on May 29, 1920 in New Paris to Irvin and Ina (O’Neal) Stiver. He married Margie Marie (Manges) Stiver on June 19, 1942.
Surviving are his wife: Margie, Goshen; son: Craig (Phyl) Stiver, Goshen; brother: Don Stiver, Syracuse. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Bill Stiver; and sister: Mary Lou Smith.
Robert was a 1938 graduate of New Paris High School. He served in World War II with Patton’s 3rd Army. He retired from Elkhart Community School after 33 years. He also worked at Stow Davis where he did odd jobs and as a currier at I.S.I. He was a former member of the VFW, Goshen and a former usher at Notre Dame. Robert was a member of New Paris Church of the Brethren.
Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 25, from 10 a.m. to noon with a service following at noon, all at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, Goshen. Pastor Stan Godfrey will officiate. Burial will take place in Violett Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to the New Paris Church of the Brethren.
