WARSAW — When deciding on her next entrepreneur adventure, Michelle Stavrou dreamt of a shop including her three favorite things: books, wine and dogs.

Stavrou is one step closer to her dream after recently purchasing the building at 101 East Center St., Warsaw, where Greek’s Pizzeria used to sit. The business is still in the early stages because the building needs a few renovations before opening.

Books, Wine and Dogs will be a shop with a relaxed atmosphere. The shop will feature bistro tables, a wine bar, couches and books in the loft and a variety of unique gifts. Stavrou also wants to use the shop as a venue for events like Wine and Canvas classes, book signings, wine tastings, book of the month clubs and live music.

“It’s going to be a great place for girlfriends to get together,” commented Stavrou.

She’s not sure how the dog aspect will fit into the shop yet. The plan is to either have a shop dog that is well-trained and welcoming to all guests, or invite guests to bring their own pets with them as they relax and shop.

“My ultimate goal is to have more people come downtown,” said Stavrou. “This is something I definitely think Warsaw could wrap their arms around.”

Stavrou is dedicated to improving downtown Warsaw. Along with the location for her own shop, she also purchased the two adjacent buildings. She will be putting those buildings up for rent shortly, hoping that another quirky, fun business may also find its spot in downtown Warsaw.

Books, Wine and Dogs is expected to open in November, with a preview during October’s First Fridays. Until then, shoppers are able to get a preview of the stores products and atmosphere by looking online.
