BOURBON — Carl Amsden, 38, was sworn in as new patrolman with Bourbon Police Department July 29. He started his full time duties Aug. 1.

The Bourbon native started his law enforcement career as a reserve for the Bourbon Police Department. He then attended and graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in 2014. Since graduating from the academy he has served as a part-time officer for the towns of Bourbon, Culver and Argos.

Amsden is a graduate of Triton High School and served five years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He is married and has four children.
