NORTH MANCHESTER — The Wabash County Sheriff’s Department responded to a personal injury crash on SR 114, just east of CR 300W, on July 24.

The preliminary investigation shows that an eastbound vehicle, driven by Caleb N. Marks, 28, North Manchester, left the roadway on the south side and struck a tree. Reports from witnesses suggest that the vehicle was traveling in an excessive rate of speed at the time of the crash.

After striking the tree, the vehicle caught fire. SR 114 was closed for approximately four hours while emergency personnel and first responders worked at the scene.

Marks and Regina May Bruce, 39, North Manchester, were pronounced dead at the scene from blunt force trauma.

The investigation is continuing.
