Volunteers, Donations Sought For MobilePack
WARSAW — This fall, more than 5,000 community volunteers will gather in a fight against world hunger.
The third annual Feed My Starving Children MobilePack event is set for Wednesday, Oct. 5, through Saturday, Oct. 8. Volunteers are invited to work two-hour shifts packing meals containing rice as the basic ingredient, plus protein-packed soy, vitamin-filled chicken flavor and vegetables. The goal is 1 million meals.
All ages are invited to participate, however children need to be at least age 5. Workplaces, families and other groups can form teams. Individual volunteers are also invited to participate. Volunteers can sign up online.
Meals cost 22 cents each to make, so a total of $220,000 is needed to meet the goal of the 2016 MobilePack. Those interested in donating to this year’s MobilePack can do so online or mail their donation to Warsaw MobilePack, P.O. Box 1802 Warsaw, IN 46581. Checks should be made payable to FMSC, memo line MobilePack 1610-168AU.
According to FMSC, an estimated 795 million people are chronically undernourished, even though there is enough food in the world to feed everyone adequately. More than 6,200 children die every day from malnutrition.
