Turkey Creek Township Advisory Board Monday, July 11, approved Township Trustee Barb Griffith’s requests for 2017 budget allocations, but not before making a handful of tweaks to the amounts asked for.

The budget with amendments was unanimously approved by the board, who instructed Griffith to bring the reworked budget to the board’s Aug. 8 meeting.

Griffith reported on her office’s disbursements through June.

Poor relief help for rent and utilities was down for the month, partly because “people are getting caught up with their bills” as the local economy improves, she said.

Griffith also reported renovation of three of the township’s cemeteries has been completed, with a fourth underway. Budget money has been set aside in 2017 for remediation of the remaining cemeteries.

Other outlays were as expected, according to Griffith.

Board member Kimberly Cates announced the vacancy on the fire territory advisory board has not been filled, with one candidate bowing out of consideration and the other failing to receive approval by the Syracuse Town Council.

The board deferred further action on the matter pending word from the town council and advice from the township attorney.
