Officers Searching For Possible Drowning Victim on Lake Tippecanoe

UPDATE: Indiana Conservation Officers have suspended the search at 10:30 p.m. due to nightfall and rough lake conditions reducing visibility. Officers will begin the search again tomorrow at 6 a.m.

Leesburg — Indiana Conservation Officers along with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, State Police and North Webster Fire Department are actively searching for a man who went under the water this evening and did not resurface on Lake Tippecanoe in Kosciusko County.

Kosciusko County Central Dispatch received the 911 call around 5:15 p.m. today’s date, July 8, alerting them of the possible drowning. Divers with the Conservation Officers, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department and North Webster Fire department arrived on scene and began the search.

Currently Officers are utilizing side scan sonar equipment to image the bottom of the lake.

Conservation Officers are being assisted at the scene by North Webster Fire, North Webster Police, North Webster EMS, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department and Indiana State Police.

Conservation Officers are requesting all boaters on Lake Tippecanoe to avoid the area while the search is underway.
