ELKHART – Dalton Herendeen and Sam Grewe will each perform on the biggest stage possible. Both Elkhart County residents were chosen for the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Herendeen is among 10 men and 21 women to make the United States swim team. This is the second Paralympics Games for Herendeen, who competed in 2012 in London. Herendeen is a Concord High School and University of Indianapolis graduate.

Grewe was selected as one of 40 men and 26 women to compete with the United States track and field team. Grewe, who will be a senior at Northridge High School this fall, will compete in high jump in his first Paralympic Games. Grewe has competed in multiple sports, including basketball and lacrosse and was once named an honorary member of the Notre Dame football program.

The Paralympic Games in Rio will take place September 7-18.
