WINONA LAKE — The Limitless Park ribbon cutting took place Saturday, July 2, to commemorate phase two of the park project.

Parks Director Holly Hummitch said they decided to do the ribbon cutting now because, “The surfacing was just completed within the last couple of weeks and because of weather [rain] and we wanted to incorporate the fourth and the Bicentennial celebration.”

The Indiana Office of Community & Rural Affairs administered a competitive matching grant in partnership with the Indiana Office of Tourism Development. The grant, a Place Based Investment Fund, promotes quality of life and the improvement of tourism experiences.

Jennifer Vaneburg, North Central district community liason, explained that people choose where they want to live and they choose certain places because of schools, amenities, attractions [parks/trails] and employment. She talked about employers choosing where to expand or build their companies based on where they’ll find workers and/or where workers want to live. This is the Quality of Life initiative.

The Limitless Park received $50,000 for equipment from the PBIF.
