PEIRCETON — Matthew Lee Robertson, 34, 4330 E. CR 100S, Pierceton, was arrested Saturday, June 4, on domestic battery with a child under 16 present, a level 6 felony and domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor.

Officer Joel Popenfoose, of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, responded to a domestic battery at the home of Robertson and his girlfriend Danielle Bollinger. When Popenfoose arrived he talked with Bollinger who stated her boyfriend had gone to the bar the night of May 13. When Robertston returned home around 3 a.m. he became angry with a friend Bollinger had staying over.

Candance Chadwick and a minor child were staying the night at Bollinger’s residence. After Robertson came home from the bar he became angry at Chadwick and told her and the minor child to leave. Chadwick then woke the child, who was sleeping on the sofa and prepared to leave. According to the affidavit of probable cause, when Chadwick was about to leave, Robertson grabbed Chadwick’s arm, took her keys and attempted to make her stay at the residence.

Bollinger stated she and Robertson got into an argument over his grabbing of her friend’s arm, when he then grabbed her by the hair and began “throwing” her around the house. When she was able to get free she said she felt pain in her head from where Robertson had pulled her hair out. Popenfoose reported he observed a large amount of hair on the living room floor and scratch marks on Bollinger’s legs.

Bollinger stated when Robertson had grabbed Chadwick’s arm she attempted to call 911, but Robertson had ripped the phone cord out of the phone jack and threw it to the floor. Popenfoose stated he saw the cord had been torn from the phone jack and was in pieces.

Robertson is being held on a $6,000 surety and cash bond.
