FORT WAYNE  Austin Allen blasted a two-run homer in a four-run sixth inning that propelled the TinCaps to a 4-1 victory over the Dayton Dragons on Saturday night at Parkview Field.

Allen brought home Michael Gettys, who opened the frame with a single.

Following a Carlos Belen flyout, Jhonatan Pena laced a single and Ty France walked. Peña scored on Ruddy  Giron’s  RBI single, and France advanced to third on a throwing error. He scored on a wild pitch.

Pitching sealed the win for Fort Wayne (30-26), which evened the series at a game apiece.

Austin Smith  (W, 1-3) picked up his first professional victory after surrendering just one hit in a career-best five scoreless innings of relief.

TinCaps starter Jake Nix worked out of a no-out, bases-loaded jam during the first inning, allowing a single run. It was his only blemish in four frames. Nix matched a career-high mark with six strikeouts.

Meanwhile, Allen (2-for-4) recorded his 15th multi-hit game of the year, adding a single to his home run. Pena (2-for-4) extended his hitting streak to seven games, and France walked three times.

Dayton (14-42) mustered its lone tally on a  James Vasquez RBI groundout.

Dragons starter Ty Boyles (L, 0-4) took the loss after giving up Allen’s home run.
