Triton Softball: Trojans Crush In Doubleheader
BOURBON – Triton had nothing but positives come from its 10-0, 10-0 softball wins against Argos.
Triton had 23 hits in the doubeheader, committed no errors in the field and held the Dragons to just three hits in the two games.
Game one saw Courtney Jennings and Taytum Hargrave each get three hits and combine for four RBIs. Hargrave and Nicole Sechrist each tripled, and Heather Stichter added a pair of doubles and two runs scored.
Jennings threw one of her finer games of the season, striking out eight and walking three in the one-hitter.
Hargrave added another three hits in game two and Sechrist knocked in two more runs on a pair of hits. Zoee Stephan and Kate Gardner each scored twice in the nightcap.
Sechrist earned her first shutout of the year, striking out four and walking two in the two-hitter.
Triton (12-10) will prepare to host Caston Friday in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference softball tournament. Triton, the four seed, was 5-3 in the regular season. Caston comes in 8-14 overall and 4-4 in the HNAC. Pioneer is the top seed in the tourney, finishing 8-0 in regular season HNAC play.
Saturday games shift to Newton Park in Lakeville. The championship for the tournament is set for 4 p.m.
