
Nancy Ann Curtis, 77, Culver, died Saturday May 14, 2016, in Plymouth.
Nancy was born on September 11, 1938 in Winamac to the late Charles E and Mary Ellen Hott. On St. Patrick’s day 1957 she married Richard W. Smith. Together they had three children Rory, Ryan and Shan. She later married Robert Curtis who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents and son Ryan Smith.
Nancy started her career in Culver waitressing at the local VFW and the Corner Tavern. Nancy then went into business with Louise Freeman opening and operating the Nan-E-Lou Restaurant. Later she was the Manager at the the Culver Inn before owning several business including a resale shop and eventually co-owning and operating Smith & Smith Furniture store with family.
Nancy was always happy especially when surrounded by her family and friends. Nancy had a way of bringing light and joy into the lives of the many people who crossed her path.
Nancy is survived by children: Rory (Stephanie) Smith, Monterey; Shan (Doug) Farmer, St Joseph; Scott (Amy) Curtis, Culver; Chuck Curtis, Plymouth; daughter-in-law: Jackie Smith of Culver; grandchildren: Kristy (Tyler) Sprout, Indianapolis; Keaton Smith, Indianapolis; Kortney Smith, South Bend; Rhiannon (Mike) Banks, Culver; Jacob (Shannon) Smith, Buchanan, Mich.; Alex Sage, Portland, Ore.; Taylor Smith, Monterey; Jeb Smith, Monterey; Maggie Smith, Monterey; Cameron Curtis, Culver; Vance Curtis, Culver; and five great-grandchildren with one on the way.
Friends may join Nancy’s family in celebrating her kind, generous and giving life at the Wesley United Methodist Church, Culver from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday, May 18 with a memorial service at 2:30. Burial will follow at the Culver Masonic Cemetery Culver. Visitors are invited to an afternoon luncheon following graveside services at the Wesley United Methodist Church basement.
Memorial contributions can be made in lieu of flowers to a charity of the donors choice.
