LA PORTE — A driver says he was traveling in the 3700 west block of Waverly Road in La Porte on Wednesday morning when he fell asleep at the wheel.

It happened just before 8 a.m. Central Time. The man drove off the road, hit a mailbox, a large stone and crossed 2 yards where he hit a truck parked in a driveway. Police say if that truck hadn’t been there, the driver would have ran into the home.

No one was hurt.
