WESTFIELD, Ind. – The opening game for NCCAA Regionals went against the Grace College softball team in an 8-6 defeat to Oakland City on Monday.

The game, played at Westfield’s Grand Park instead of Indiana Wesleyan due to rain, was the first in the double-elimination tournament. In the second game of the day, Oakland City lost to Indiana Wesleyan.

As a result, the tournament will likely conclude on Wednesday. Grace will face Oakland City in an elimination game at 11 a.m., and the winner would have to beat IWU twice in order to grab the automatic bid to the 2016 NCCAA World Series.

The Lancers are now 30-28 on the season.
