Grace Softball: Knight, Elliott Honored

Grace College SportsWINONA LAKE – The Grace College softball team swept the NCCAA National Players of the Week as Clarissa Knight and Chandler Elliott were both honored.

Knight was named the Crossroads League and NCCAA Player of the Week, and Elliott was the NCCAA National Pitcher of the Week.

Elliott impressed last week from the mound, she posted a 0.57 ERA in three appearances. She earned a win and a save and held opponents to a .227 batting average. Her lone loss was an 8-inning relief appearance against No. 17 Marian in which she gave up just one run. She also batted .353 from the plate with six RBIs.

Knight hit .571 last week, recording a hit in every game which was highlighted by three multi-hit games. She scored 4 runs, drove in 4 more, and did not commit an error in 19 chances from the shortstop position.

The Lady Lancers will look to extend their season on Wednesday in the NCCAA Midwest Regionals. Grace will need to win three games on Wednesday in the tournament, which also includes Oakland City and Indiana Wesleyan. The winner of the regional tourney receives an automatic bid to the 2016 NCCAA World Series.
