GOSHEN – Goshen High School announced Monday evening at its school board meeting that Michael Wohlford has been named the new boys basketball coach.

Wohlford has 10 years of high school basketball coaching experience, his first two years at Muncie Central as an assistant, and the past eight years working for Brian Bechtel’s boys basketball staff as an assistant coach. Bechtel stepped down from the Goshen post after 17 years earlier this spring.

Wohlford is a graduate of Ball State University and Columbus East High School. He was an all-conference basketball player at Columbus East and was first team academic all-state. His senior year at Columbus East, 2003, he led the team to its first sectional title 24 years.

Michael and his wife, Catherine Wohlford (Bowen), have two children, Lauren and Abby. Michael is a social studies teacher at Goshen High School and Catherine is a biology teacher and an athletic trainer also at Goshen High School.
