The Soil and Water Conservation Districts of Elkhart, Kosciusko and St. Joseph counties, in partnership with Arrow Head Country Resource, Conservation and Development Forestry Committee, will be hosting two forest related events on Sept. 18. The events will take interested participants from planting tree seedlings to forest end products.

Part one begins with Breakfast with a Forester, from 8 a.m. -9:30 a.m. in Richard’s Restaurant at 3605 Commerce Dr., Warsaw. This part of the program is hosted by the Forestry Committee of Arrow Head Country RC&D. Breakfast is on you.

Professional foresters will be present for an informal discussion on tree related topics. Participants are encouraged to bring their woodland questions and those topics will direct the discussion. It will be an excellent opportunity to have questions answered on a variety of topics, from choosing tree species, to woodland management and marketing.

Part two of the day runs from 10 a.m. to noon with a tour of Quality Hardwood Products at 3902 E. SR 14, Claypool (near the intersection of SR 14 and CR 400 East). The program will include a tour of the sawmill and will highlight forestry products from firewood to log exports.

Attend both programs or just choose one. There are no attendance fees for either of these events, however, an RSVP is appreciated.
