Triton Sports Wrap: May 6
Winamac Completes The Sweep
Winamac’s baseball team completed the season sweep of Triton, taking the second game of the home-and-home Friday, 6-3, at Ken Keller Field.
Triton outhit Winamac 12-10 but couldn’t manage more than a single run until the seventh inning. Layne Sobczack gave up all 12 hits and walked five more, but worked out of several jams including a pair of Triton runs in the seventh.
All nine Triton batters had at least one hit; Zac Pitney, Payton Westafer and Lucas Newman all had two hits.
Maverick Schultz had a pair of hits and a pair of RBIs for the Warriors, which defeated Triton Thursday night in Winamac. Jack DeGroot, who tossed a gem Thursday, had two hits and two runs scored.
Triton (8-8, 7-5 HNAC) will play again Monday at Bremen.
Winamac Softball Edges Triton
Winamac pushed across a single run, which was one better than Triton had Friday in a 1-0 final.
Stats were not immediately released for the game from either school.
Triton falls to 5-7 overall and 1-4 in the HNAC, but hope to rebound Saturday with a doubleheader at West Central.
