Tigers Get Revenge

The Warsaw baseball team avenged one of its losses from earlier this season. The Tigers used some late-inning heroics to earn a 7-6 win over Goshen in extras.

Warsaw’s Zach Witt tied things up 6-6 in the bottom of the seventh following a passed ball. Following a quick inning on the mound from Isaac Lennon, the Tigers manufactured a run in great fashion to win the game.

Blake Foreman doubled  then was moved to third following a bunt from Alex Miller. Foreman was brought home on a sac fly from Jordan Steffensmeier.

Witt and Foreman led Warsaw with two hits each.

Warsaw now stands at 9-6 overall and 7-2 in the Northern Lakes Conference. The Tigers host Plymouth Monday.

Warsaw’s JV fell 5-3.

RedHawks Escape Tigers In Softball Tilt

The Warsaw Tigers Varsity won the hit battle 8-7 on Friday, but couldn’t push enough runs across to get the win, instead losing 6-4 in seven innings to Goshen.

Abby Glass led the Orange and Black with three hits, including a double. Glass also had a stolen base and two RBIs. Grace Johnson and Lauren Shaffner also had an RBI for the Tigers.

Courtney Chookie and Grace Johnson each pitched six innings for the Tigers with Chookie recording one strikeout.

Tennis Team Blanks Concord

The Warsaw girls tennis team posted a 5-0 Northern Lakes Conference win at Concord.

Sophomore Liza Lewis led the Tigers with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 win at No. 1 singles.

Colette Smith won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 and Ella Knight prevailed 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 to complete the singles sweep for Warsaw.

The duo of Hannah Rice and Athena Schlitt won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles. The team of Grace Miller and Rosie Fleming rallied for a 5-7, 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 win at No. 2 to complete the shutout for the Tigers.

Warsaw improves to 7-5 overall and moves to 4-2 in the conference.

The Tigers host Goshen Monday in their final NLC match. The NLC Tournament is then set to begin Wednesday at Warsaw. The league tourney will continue on Thursday at Plymouth and finish on Friday back at Warsaw.
