WARSAW – Tommy Hickerson, who has shined on the football field, classrooms, and is currently one of Warsaw’s top performers in track and field, signed his Letter of Intent to attend Grace College where the senior will continue competing in athletics for the Lancers’ track and field program.

Hickerson, one of the primary receiving threats in the fast-paced spread offense Tiger football unveiled the past two seasons, continues to stand out in the long-jump. Hickerson’s best jump of 20-10 in the long jump is one of the top jumps in the area.

The Friday night lights in the fall and the busy training schedule that accompanies both football and track & field have not blocked the runway for Hickerson in the classroom. The senior scholar athlete has posted a 12.0 grade-point average while enrolled in a number of academic honors and dual credit subjects, and this past fall he was honored with the WHME Student Athlete of the Week award for his efforts.

Not only has Hickerson made an impact in athletics and in the classroom, he has had a large role in Tiger Athletics drive to serve and impact others through his involvement and work with My Team Triumph, Feed My Starving Children, 2nd Mile Adventures, and he served as a role model and coach with the Tiger Flag Football League.

Hickerson is the fourth of his family to go through Warsaw and move on to compete at the collegiate level, following Claire (Air Force track and field), Joey (Grace baseball), and Emily (Grace soccer).

With the plans to major in Exercise Science, Hickerson is looking forward to his opportunity with the Lancers and coach Jeff Raymond.
