Linda D. “Di” Schmidt, Upper Long Lake and formerly of Fort Wayne, died Monday evening, May 2, 2016, peacefully at her home.
She was born Aug. 27, 1950, in Wabash, a daughter of Garold Andrew and Hilda Pauline (Gage) Crabill. Her formative years were spent in Wabash, Peru and Paulding, Ohio, until moving to Fort Wayne while in third grade. Di graduated from Snider High School.
For 28 years, she worked in the food service at Towne House Retirement Center, retiring as director in 2015. On July 1, 2014, she married her companion of 31 years, Arthur J. Schmidt.
Surviving relatives include her husband: Art; a daughter: Lori (Eric) Folkestad, Zionsville; stepdaughter; Shelda Ojeda, Fort Wayne; four grandchildren; two sisters: Barb Parker, Pleasant Lake; and Carol Chovan, Fort Wayne; and a brother: Steve Crabill, Fort Wayne. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister: Jane Johnson.
The visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 6, at Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with visitation from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
Preferred memorials are to Parkview Home Health and Hospice.
