WINONA LAKE – This Saturday, April 30, the second running of the Hero Run 5K is set to raise awareness about April being Child Abuse Prevention Month. The Hero Run is put on by CASA of Kosciusko County, Beaman Home and Victims Assistance.
The race is itself is assisted by Kosciusko Runners Association and will take place on the Winona Lake Trails.
Registration opens at 8 a.m. this Saturday with the 1-mile Chase The Hero Run starting at 9 a.m. The Hero Run 5K starts at 9:30 a.m.
The 1-mile Chase The Hero Race is perfect for kids, families, and those wanting to participate in a smaller race rather than a 5K. The costume contest categories include Female Child, Male Child, Adult Female, Adult Male and Family Costume. Watching the runners in their super hero costumes makes for a really fun race.
Following the 5K there will be an awards ceremony for the top runners and costume contest winners.
