CLAYPOOL — Nathanial S. Miller, 58, Claypool, is in serious condition with unspecified head and back injuries at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, following an accident early this morning. He was flown from the scene by Lutheran Air. The accident was on CR 600W, near CR 800S, southwest of Claypool.

According to 1st Sgt. Chad Hill, public information officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, officers and emergency personnel responded to a 911 call at 2:59 a.m. regarding a truck that had struck a utility pole. Sheriff’s Deputy Kreg Kuhn arrived to find a 1988 Ford F150 on CR 600W. He found the driver, Miller, ejected from the vehicle.

KCSD investigating officers preliminarily determined Miller had been traveling north on CR 600W when for an unknown reason, the vehicle went off the west side of the roadway. The truck struck a utility pole, which caused the truck to overturn multiple times and subsequently ejecting Miller.

The crash is still under investigation. Police are also awaiting drug and alcohol blood results, which is standard procedure during such a crash.
