Cubs Take Game One At Quad Cities
DAVENPORT, IA – South Bend picked up the win Tuesday in the first game of its series at Quad Cities, 7-5.
Eloy Jimenez, Daniel Spingola and Jesse Hodges all had two hits and Spingola added two RBIs for the Cubs. Donnie Dewees hit his sixth triple of the season and drove in a run for South Bend, which moves to 12-6 on the season.
The Cubs scored two in the second, fourth and seventh innings and another run in the eighth. The two runs in the seventh broke a 4-4 tie.
Casey Bloomquist got the win for South Bend, pitching three innings of one-hit relief. Starter Preston Morrison worked five innings, giving up seven hits and four earned runs.
Greyfer Eregua picked up his third save, striking out two.
Brooks Marlow was 5-for-5 with a triple for Quad Cities (7-12). Albert Abreu was saddled with the loss for the Bandits.
The two teams will meet again Wednesday night.
