
Michael D. Wallen, 70 of Warsaw, passed away at 2:34 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2016 in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw. He was born April 1, 1946 in Medaryville, to Davy and Irene (Bailey) Wallen. He was a resident of Warsaw since 1978.
On Aug. 17, 1975 in Argos, he was married to Kaye Thompson, who survives. He retired from Sprint Management in 1995 after 21 years. He was also a HAM Radio Operator with a call sign of KC9ZCH. He faithfully served in the United States Army in Vietnam from 1965 to 1969 as an SP E5 (Sgt.) and was a radio operator in the Army RA Signal Corps.
He is survived by his wife, Kaye Wallen and his children: Lindsay (and spouse Michael) Weber, St. Louis; Michael D. (and spouse Cara) Wallen II Commerce Township, Mich.; Abbey (and spouse Aaron) Sponseller, Warsaw; Audrey (and spouse Adam) Sherrill, Warsaw; and David (and spouse Lisa) Wallen, Fairbanks, Alaska. He is also survived by his sisters: Charlotte Blessing, Wichita Falls, Texas; Sandra Wallen, Anderson; brother: Gary (and spouse Janet) Wallen, Plymouth, Mich.; and special sister: Vivian Eidemiler, Warsaw; and eight grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 21, at 1 p.m. at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel in Warsaw, with Pastor EJ Underwood officiating. Burial will take place after the service in Maple Grove Cemetery in Argos, with Military Honors by the Argos American Legion Post 68 and the United States Army Military Funeral Honor Guard.
Visitation will be on Thursday April 21, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. also at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel in Warsaw.
