Donald E. Willoughby, 81, North Manchester, died at 7:20 a.m. Friday, April 8, 2016, at Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester.

He was born on April 6, 1935, in Harrisburg, Pa., to the late William A. and Lilian (Falkenstein) Willoughby. Donald was married to Marie A. Hoover on Aug. 22, 1958, in Vienna, Austria. He served in pastoral ministry at Oak Grove Church of the Brethren, Lowpoint, Ill., Crab Run and Damascus Churches of the Brethren, the Antioch Church of the Brethren in Va., and the Marilla and Lakeview Churches of the Brethren in Mich. He held positions in the local church and for the district and national Church of the Brethren.

Graduated from Bridgewater (VA) High School in 1953; Elizabethtown College in 1960 abd Bethany Theological Seminary, Oak Brook, Ill. in 1964. He was licensed to the ministry in spring of 1953 and ordained in April 1964. He was interested in wildflowers and rocks, keeping in touch with family, traveling and reading. He was a member of the Manchester Church of the Brethren where he attended Koinonia Sunday School Class.

Donald is survived by his wife; sons: Michael (Beth) Willoughby, Elk River, Minn.; John (Joanna) Willougby, Grand Rapids, Mich.; daughters: Anne (Don) Petry, Glen Carbon, Ill.; Sallie Willoughby, San Leandro, Calif.; Carolyn (Barron) Willoughby Deffenbaugh, Johnstown, Pa.; Brenda Willoughby, Castro Valley, Calif.; brother: David (Barbara Maris) Willoughby, Lancaster, Pa.; grandchildren: Jason Petry; Jordan (Maggie) Petry; Melia Willoughby; Rohan Willoughby; Emilie Deffenbaugh; Drew Deffenbaugh; Aaron Deffenbaugh; Zander Willoughby; Zoe Willoughby; Vienna Willoughby; and Shiloh Willoughby; great-granchild: Sam Petry. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Calling will be from 1-2 p.m. Sunday, April 10, at Timbercrest Chapel, North Manchester, before the 2 p.m. Sunday, April 10 service also at the chapel, officiated by Pastor Karen Eberly. A memorial service and burial of the ashes at Worship Walkway of Marilla Church of the Brethren, rural Copemish, Mich., will be at a later date. McKee Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
