Evelyn G. Schipper, 86, of Peru, Ind., and formerly of Akron, Ind., passed away at 7:25 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at Dukes Memorial Hospital of Peru.

She was born Feb. 10, 1926, in Miami County, Ind., to Elmer and Addie Glee (Butt) Fites. She married Roy E. Schipper on March 3, 1946, at her Miami County home by Rev. Golden.

Evelyn was a homemaker and a farmer’s wife. She was a school bus driver for more than 25 years for Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation. She was a 1944 graduate of Gilead High School and a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church of Roann, Ind. She was a seamstress and loved to play the piano and the organ.

Evelyn is survived by two daughters: Jane (David) Haynes, Akron, Ind.; and Janet (Mike) Gonsalves, Mount Juliet, Tenn.; two sons: Paul E. (Diane) Schipper, Kokomo, Ind.; and Randal E. (Doris) Schipper, Roann, Ind.; nine grandchildren: Aaron and Evan Schipper, Amy Weaver, Troy Schipper, Rebecca Bolinger, Travis and Nolan Haynes, Derek Haynes, and Brook Betten; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister: Mary Weirick, Mexico, Ind.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Elmer and Addie Fites; her husband: Roy E. Schipper; three sisters: Ruth Bammerlin, Grace Waechter and Normalene Wagner; and three brothers: Ralph Fites, Paul Fites and James Fites.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, in the funeral home with Rev. Wayne Balmer officiating. Burial will be in Akron Cemetery, Akron.
