Bethel Pilots SportsMISHAWAKA – Bethel College basketball standout Clay Yeo is on the mend after undergoing knee surgery this afternoon.

Yeo, a former star at Triton High School, had surgery at Memorial Hospital in South Bend to repair torn cartilage. The junior guard suffered the injury during the recently-completed season.

Yeo earned first-team NAIA All-American honors earlier this month after leading the Pilots to a 24-10 mark. He averaged 21.4 points and 6.6 rebounds per game for Bethel, which ended its season with a loss in the second round of the NAIA Division II National Championships.

Yeo was tabbed as a first-team All-Crossroads League selection this year for the second straight season. Yeo, who played at Valparaiso University his freshman season before transferring to Bethel, became the second-quickest player in program history to reach 1,000 career points at Bethel this season.

Yeo starred at Triton as he led the Trojans to Class 1-A state runner-up finishes in 2011 and 2013. He finished his prep career as the all-time leading scorer in both school history and Marshall County history with 1,992 career points. Yeo was an Indiana All-Star selection in 2013.
