Kenneth Roy Alwine, 87, formerly of South Bend, passed away at 12:06 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at at North Wood Village Memory Care in Mishawaka. Kenneth was born to the late Guy Romanus and Goldie Matilda (Dorrier) Alwine on May 10, 1928, in South Bend. On Sept. 2, 1950, in Plymouth, he married Carrol Elizabeth (DeMien) Alwine, who preceded him in death in 2005.
Kenneth is survived by his daughter: Joyce (Barry) Hughes, Plymouth; his son: Mark (Kathy) Alwine, Mattawan, Mich.; four grandchildren: Robert (Jennifer) Stout; Trenton (Morgan) Stout; Jennifer (Joseph) Woodhams; and Jeffrey Alwine; four great-grandchildren: Lydia; Paxtyn; Brock; and Calvin; his sisters: Martha Moore, Mishawaka; Esther Shapland, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sisters: Lillian McIntyre; Thelma Manuel; his brothers: James; Richard; and Carl Alwine; and three infant siblings.
Funeral services will take place at noon Saturday, April 2, at Palmer Funeral Home – Guisinger Chapel, South Bend. Pastor Tim Pearson will officiate. Friends may visit with the family two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Southlawn Cemetery.
